Lee Kiefer of the United States succesfully defended her title, taking fencing gold in the women’s individual foil on Sunday at the Paris Games. She defeated fellow American Lauren Scruggs 15-6. The silver medallist became the first Black fencer from the US to win an individual medal in the women’s event. Bronze went to Canada’s Eleanor Harvey. In the men’s epee, Koki Kano of Japan added his first Olympic individual gold to the team gold at Tokyo 2020 with a 15-9 win over France’s Yannick Borel. Mohamed El-Sayed of Egypt claimed bronze.
