A delegation from Sri Lanka has called on Russia to allow its citizens fighting against Ukraine to return home, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka’s delegation led by Foreign Minister Tharaka Balasuriya visited the Russian Federation from June 26 to 27, 2024. Talks were held with representatives of Russia regarding Sri Lankan citizens fighting for Russia on a contractual basis.
