A lollipop lady who has been ensuring that village residents and school children cross the road safely for 20 years has decided to call it a day. Carol Smith, from Dersingham, has been the village’s lollipop lady since 2004 and has decided to give up her stop sign to enjoy retirement. Carol, 76, moved to West Norfolk from Kent, where she also worked as a lollipop lady for two decades – meaning she has served in the role for 40 years.
