Germany claimed a stunning 83-69 upset victory over European champions Belgium in their first ever women’s Olympic basketball match on Monday. Led by 17 points from their WNBA star Satou Sabally, 16 each from her sister, Nyara Sabally, and Leonie Fiebich, plus 15 from Alexis Peterson, the Germans prevailed thanks to a strong start which saw them lead 25-11 after the first quarter and 46-25 at half-time.
