Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena is to be given a new address in memory of German football great Franz Beckenbauer, the Münchner Merkur/tz media group reported on Sunday. Werner-Heisenberg-Allee 25 will become Franz-Beckenbauer-Platz 5 in future. Defender Beckenbauer became a star at the club with the number 5 on his back. Members of Munich city council discussed the issue last Friday and a full go-ahead is seen as a formality.
