Despite its enormous damage to the climate, global reliance on coal for energy production continues to grow, with few concrete plans to phase it out. That was the key finding of a recent analysis by the German environmental organization Urgewald, which, together with other organizations, maintains a large public database on the coal industry called the Global Coal Exit List.
