Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes was optimistic that Xabi Alonso would stay at the club during the contract talks with the coach. “The concerns weren’t there, otherwise we wouldn’t have been so relaxed. My gut feeling always made me optimistic,” Rolfes told broadcasters Sky on Saturday.
