A late penalty goal from Ryan Mendes ensured Cape Verde defeated Mauritania 1-0 to book their place in the quarterfinal. The Blue Sharks will now join Nigeria, Angola, Guinea and DR Congo in the last 8. Cape Verde had played 2-2 against Egypt in their final Group B clash.
