A priest has been detained in Austria for allegedly producing illegal drugs, authorities said on Monday. The 38-year-old has been remanded in custody, according to police in the north-eastern city of Sankt Pölten. He is suspected of producing methamphetamine, a dangerous recreational drug colloquially known as crystal meth. Police said they seized chemicals and laboratory equipment during a search of the priest’s residence.
