Several firefighters were called to a roof blaze earlier today. Crews headed to The Rocks Road in East Malling just after 11.30am after a ground floor extension caught alight. Four fire engines attended and spent more than an hour battling the flames. A spokesman for the fire service said: “Crews wearing breathing apparatus used equipment to cut away the material on the roof to expose and extinguish the flames. “There were no reported injuries and it’s believe the fire started whilst workers were using a heat gun to install new felt on the roof.”
