In his weekly column, Hunstanton writer John Maiden reflects on his journey through education… Recent coverage of the Olympic Games, and the current coverage of the Paralympic Games, has made me think about the 1944 Education Act. The connection is that this act promoted the misguided idea of providing three different types of secondary education, gold, silver and bronze, based on results achieved in an examination at eleven plus.
