South Korean tech firm Samsung Electronics on Wednesday posted a six-fold increase year-on-year of its net income from 1.55 trillion won ($1.12 billion) to 9.64 trillion won. The rise in the second quarter was driven by favourable conditions in the memory chip market, which led to higher average sales price. Robust sales of OLED panels also contributed to the favourable results. Operating income for the quarter climbed to 10.44 trillion won from 0.67 trillion won a year earlier.
